The Best Cooking Classes in NYC for 2025
1. Eataly NYC

Classes are held in the Flatiron district, making it easy for participants to travel to the school’s facility via several subway lines or public transportation. The most popular offerings include hands-on Italian cooking classes, wine tastings, and tours, where students can get out of the classroom and learn how each market department functions.

- NYC Location: Flatiron District
Average review rating: 4.5 out of 5
Student Reviews
“Eataly Flatiron has amazing cooking pasta classes. I took my boyfriend on a date here and we had a lot of fun, we learned how to make the dough and different types of pasta, while a server brought a two-course meal, for entry we had a blue cheese, spinach, and pasta salad, and afterward a pasta with meat (I still dream off) and complementary wine. Everything is included in the course. It is an amazing date idea. I just wished they had classes later than 10:00 am. Pasta and wine at 11:00 am was a bit early. But highly recommend it.”
“The 1 star is regarding my experience, and not for the awesome products available. I have heard a lot for their gelatos, i was confused between 2 flavors; my group has got 4 other flavors, and i was rejected right away for a second tasting based on my color, the couple after me tasted several and it wasn’t an issue. Quite a disappointment. Later went to Anita Gelato.
2. Taste Buds Kitchen

“Cooking class was so much fun! Me and my husband really enjoyed the sushi class. We made sushi and dumplings, and everything was delicious. Instructor Andrea was friendly, efficient and helpful. I would totally sign up again for different cuisine class in the future through Taste Buds Kitchen!”
“We Scheduled a small group of kids for a bday party at one of the break camps today. We mentioned it was for a bday celebration when registered for classes, and even came 15 minutes early before the class to request if the four kids could sit together. But the staff was not cooperative and flexible with it. The kids sit separately and are sad. Very disappointed!”
3. CocuSocial
What sets CocuSocial apart from other offerings is that the institution hosts events at various locations around the city. Whether at a local restaurant or hotel, there are both public and private classes teaching the ins and outs of cooking. The average pricing for this school’s classes is around $40-$60 per session, which is notably lower than many competitor cooking schools in NYC. “10/10! Chef Nader did an amazing job of explaining the process of pasta making. It wasn’t intimidating at all and all of the tools were provided. We were able to bring some wine which was nice. It was a really fun experience and will definitely be taking more classes with the chef! The sauces were delicious. Thanks for the experience.”
“Intro to French pastry was not a great experience. There was limited equipment and the hand mixer we had to go find a plug to use it. We didn’t learn any techniques and the demonstration was too far for us to see. Lastly the pastry was raw and pale which we didn’t have control over. We were sent the recipe after and it didn’t match to what we did in class. When asked why it tasted so eggy we were told pastry is meant to taste eggy and it will better in the morning. Go pay extra to get a professional experience or use YouTube to learn.”
4. Home Cooking New York

“Susan's cooking class was a delightful experience! Her warm professionalism and engaging teaching style made the whole day fun and informative. The green market tour in Union Square was a highlight, as we handpicked the freshest ingredients for our dishes. Back at the school, the hands-on cooking experience was a blast. I met wonderful people and learned so much about preparing delicious food. The ricotta ravioli with radish leaf pesto was a revelation—pure culinary genius! If you love cooking and want to learn from the best, I highly recommend this class.”
“Overall this is a somewhat mediocre cooking class for the price and current competition. I went to the Thai cooking session with my wife where we learned to make a soup, rice, curry, and fish dish. It was enjoyable but I wouldn’t go back. I think the biggest problem with Home Cooking’s setup is that they physically don’t have the resources to allow each student to do any hot cooking. There is only one electric portable burner at the table (which only the instructor uses) and the sole hands-on experience you get is cutting vegetables or preparing ingredients. The rest of the time you spend listening and watching the instructor cook. That’s really it. The instructor was knowledgeable but I didn’t feel like I learned too much more than what I would’ve by watching videos or reading recipes. The food “we” made was good, except for the fish dish which my wife and I actually did not enjoy. In the end I can’t really recommend this class given the high price, and that there are now many cooking class options available in NYC.”

“We took an online cheese tasting class (of sheep's milk cheese) with Murray's and just loved it, from the instructor to the tastes shipped to arrive the day before. Great job, great class. See you again for the goat cheese class!”
“The class was a little sloppy. The instructor was great, but the class size was too big. Hard to hear and follow along. Half the room was couples, and half the room was completely drunk coworkers who were talking over the instructor. I wish we had spent more time on the mozzarella tasting, more time talking about how they made the cheese curd, and explaining the wine pairings. Felt rushed and didn’t leave feeling I got my value’s worth.”

A portion of the classes focus on traditional French cooking and baking techniques, including pastries, bagels, and macarons. “I took both the croissant and the macaron classes. Both were excellent and I learned helpful tips that I had not heard before, especially for getting the best results when making chocolate ganache filling and the macaron batter. A fun evening for a date night or an activity to do with out of town guests. Highly recommend.”
“Arrived four minutes until the class start time, we were impatiently told that she didn’t have an assistant and we should wait in the 37 degree weather to let her finish setting up. Four minutes after the class start time I knocked on the door and she was going to send us away again, but I insisted to come in. The class itself was good after the instructor stopped complaining about full early classes with no assistants and the uselessness of the printed recipes and students who try to follow them. TLDR. Started late. Ended really late. Unwelcoming but knowledgeable.”

“I booked a private knife skills lesson with Chef Paul as a gift for someone. Wonderful experience. They went over several ways of cutting, dicing, slicing, and coring as a full meal was prepared, and we sat down to eat towards the end. Chef Paul took his time with the teaching and was extremely informative and lovely to meet. Highly recommend taking a group or a private class!”

“We had a wonderful first experience at Hudson Table and will definitely be back. Our group could not stop raving about their cooking class, they loved the recipes and thoroughly enjoyed the fruits of their labor when they got to sit down and enjoy the meal they prepared. We used this a reward for our top performing managers and it truly was a special experience for them, one they all said was memorable and so fun.”
“This place isn’t a cooking school. It offers a social experience related to cooking. There is very little hands-on cooking and you don’t learn very much. Our chef was very nice and friendly but essentially we watched him cook. That’s not to say that you can’t have a very nice and enjoyable time, but don’t expect to learn how to cook.”

“Mukti is a delight! A brilliant chef and an articulate and effective advocate for all aspects of Indian cuisine. This isn't just another cooking class—it's an in-depth introduction into an entire world of spice and food preparation. It opened a new world for us in our kitchen (and we both cook a lot.) For the curious beginner to the master home chef, Mukti provides a fun experience that's also richly educational. We had a blast, and want to keep learning. Very highly recommended.”
“Incredibly disappointed with my experience with Mukti’s Kitchen. I signed up for an online cooking class in early August, and the weekend before purchased all the ingredients and necessary equipment. Two days before the class, I received an email that the class was cancelled because not enough people signed up. Mukti told me she would be back in touch to reschedule the class.”

“Abigail and her team provided a fun, educational, and delicious meal & experience for me and 10 colleagues from my company. The best team-building evening we’ve ever had! Highly recommend Abigail’s for whatever unique culinary experience you and your significant other or group want to create!”
“We attended a dinner in the dark experience on Wednesday, July 26th. We expected a relaxing sensory experience. Instead, the room was so loud that we couldn’t hear each other. (There was a large birthday celebration, and the team doesn’t separate couples and large tables.) We were told we could rebook for a different date but then that comment was withdrawn. I emailed the owners and got no response, not even an acknowledgment. I’m very disappointed. The concept is promising; the execution is not equitable.”

“Our class was great! The chefs were kind and encouraging, met everyone at their individual skill level, and gave all kinds of tips to make sure we could replicate the process at home. I've heard of some cooking classes where you go home still hungry, but that definitely wasn't the case here- we were completely full, and even went home with a few to go boxes! We'll definitely be looking at their calendar again soon!”
“Difficult to find classes with space. My spouse and I registered for a class which got canceled a week prior. While we got a refund, Guest Relations wasn’t helpful in finding a resolution to future class participation. Very disappointed.”

“My first cake decorating 101 class and I loved it. Lisa Monsour is an excellent instructor. She walked through every step in detail and with patience. She also went around checking in with everyone to help improve our techniques. I left that class with a pretty fabulous looking cake using pink frosting with ruffle shape. Will be coming back for sure.”
“They do carry lots of baking stuff and you will be able to find the most of what you look for but classwise, they treat you very differently before and after you take their classes. They are not helpful after they receive your payment and not kind/nice.”

“The first time I’ve ever taken a cooking class and I did it with Chef Ivan and his team! This was an absolute delight, not only was he extremely patient and educational, the food was insanely delicious. He made it so fun for each of us, and the entire set up was beautiful. This won’t be my last class to attend of his!”
“This was a so-so experience. We were hoping for a bit more hands-on cooking but it was mainly prep and watching the chef. Our chef was also not the friendliest and it felt tough to ask questions. The place was also extremely cold, especially in the bathroom. Others in our group were warning us from the start to not go because it was so cold. Learned some valuable new things but overall wish we got more out of it.”
